Did You Know 2.0


This video gussies up some interesting information technology statistics with graphics. Schools are slowly adapting to the information revolution, but resources are limited and it takes a great deal of preparation time to properly incorporate advanced technology into a lesson. Sometimes the technology overwhelms the lesson, but things are improving as younger teachers enter the profession and veterans like me train ourselves to do things differently.

My Ta La La


As we broil in 100+ temperatures in Joklahoma, how nice it is to think of cool inviting Sweden. Stockholm’s highs this week are 75 degrees Fahrenheit, but I’m thinking that it would be even colder were it not for the pulsating heat of Gunther and the Sunshine Girls. Yes, he comes from the same land that gave us ABBA and Ace of Base.

If This Is Goodbye


The climax of the new album All the Roadrunning by Mark Knopfler and Emmylou Harris is this poignant song, inspired by the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001. Knopfler wrote the song after reading the empathic article Only Love and Then Oblivion which the author Ian McEwan published in the UK’s Guardian newspaper four days after the attacks. Out of such ugliness comes such beauty.
